Where to report a lost item in Vail
The right channel depends on where you lost it. Here's what to know about each.
Vail Police Department Lost & Found
The Vail Police hold lost items and maintain a central lost & found database. Items are typically kept for a set period before release. You can file a report online or call the lost & found line directly. We identify your loss location and file on your behalf.
Vail Resorts Lost & Found
If you lost something on the mountain, in the lodge, or at a Vail Resorts venue, their dedicated lost & found is where it goes first. They hold items and can email you updates. We make sure your report reaches their team with all the right details.
Transit Lost & Found
Lost something on a local bus? CoreTransit and RFTA handle found items on their routes. They keep items for a limited time, so reporting early is key. We generate the exact route and time details they need to locate your item.

Eagle County Airport (EGE)
Flying out of EGE or recovering an item left behind? The airport's lost & found handles items in the terminal. Report to the airline if it was left on a plane, or contact the airport directly for items in the terminal or parking areas.
Lost Pet
If you've lost a cat, dog, or other pet in or around Vail, the Eagle County Animal Shelter keeps a registry of found animals and can check if yours has been brought in. Time is critical for pets, and community networks here respond fast. Consider filing a priority lost pet report to activate immediate alerts.
